Position Announcement

 

Full-Time Firefighter/ Paramedic

 

The Board of Fire Commissioners for the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District will conduct examinations for qualified persons to establish an eligibility list from which firefighter/paramedic vacancies will be filled.  Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements.

 

  • Must have not reached their 35th birthday as of the date of the written examination or meet certain exemptions as set by statute.

  • Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.

  • Must possess a high school graduation diploma or GED.

  • Must possess a valid drivers’ license.

  • Must possess a proof of successful completion of the Candidate Physical Aptitude Test (CPAT) with ladder climb dated no older than April 8, 2023.

  • Must be licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health as an EMT-Paramedic or be currently enrolled in a paramedic program at the time of application (must be certified as an EMT-P at the time of hire).

  • Must be certified by the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal to the level of Basic Operations Firefighter or Firefighter II.

 

Applicants will be required to attend a mandatory orientation session to be held on April 13, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. at Round Lake Fire Department Station #1, 409 W. Nippersink Road, Round Lake, IL. Written testing will immediately follow the orientation.

 

The application can be downloaded below or picked up at the Fire District Administrative Office (located at Fire Station 1) from 8:00 - 4:00 Monday - Friday.  Applications must be returned in person to the Administrative Office at Round Lake Fire Station 1 between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.  Application deadline is April 8, 2024 at 4:00 p.m.
