Full Time Employment Opportunities The Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District staffs three fire stations, 24 hours per day. The District periodically gives competitive examinations to create a list of eligible candidates. All full-time applicants must possess at least an Illinois State Firefighter II certification and an Illinois Paramedic license.
Employment examinations may include; written, physical ability, oral interviews and background checks.
Paid On Call Opportunities Paid On Call personnel are required to become state certified as an Emergency Medical Technician B (EMT-B) and a Illinois State Certified Firefighter II. Several other certifications will also be included throughout your career.
Shift assignments include weekend hours, holiday hours, and sleeping at the station at least once every ninth night. Members are required to attend schooling, participate in department functions, and attend departmental trainings.
Applicants must live within the living radius, have a GED or high school diploma, as well as a valid Illinois driver's license.
